Preparing for an Astrology Reading

During your initial reading, we will explore your natal chart like a celestial map or cosmic blueprint of the creative and spiritual forces that are intimately imprinted upon your life since the moment of your birth in this body.  We will also connect with the planetary cycles and rhythms that are currently influencing your life.

This form of astrology also “speaks” directly to your soul and is shamanic in the sense that it activates your inner knowing and understanding on many subtle levels of non-ordinary reality as well, and aligns you with the archetypes and also possibly with personal spirit helpers that are present for you – providing clues within an archetypal and mythical framework to support the process of consciously engaging and co-creating with these energies, cycles and initiations of your life.  Designed to assist an individual in taking responsibility for their own life, Shamanic Astrology is based on the hermetic principle of, “As Above, So Below!”.  This is not based on the laws of CAUSE AND EFFECT, rather on the understanding that the cycles and patterns of the outer world correspond with the cycles and patterns of the inner world – our own psyche, and thereby represent the unfolding of our lives.  This would suggest that the patternings of the constellations, the archetypes and the great myths and themes are rooted in our culture and collective consciousness, and also therefore in our personal consciousness.

The primary purpose of understanding one’s own natal chart, is to achieve a perspective that allows one to have compassion for oneself and one’s own predicament.  It is then, that your heart can be open to truly allow compassion for others as well.  This is not about judgment of what is good or bad, right or wrong, or any one thing being better than another (such as a particular “sign” or planetary influence) – it is about understanding and embracing all parts of ourselves – most especially including our own shadow, wherein the power to our healing awaits us. 

We will look at what your soul’s original intent held for you, and allow for the unfolding of your purpose, your skills and challenges – your unique expression.  The format will be slightly different than other readings you may have had in the past, and we will begin our focus with:

v  Lineage & Skills  ~ Moon, South Node, “Medicine” Planets

v  Tools  ~ Venus, Mars, Mercury, Sun

v  Life Path & Intent  ~ Rising/Ascendant, North Node, Jupiter

v  Structure & Support  ~ Angles, Right Livelihood, Chiron, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Lilith

Once we have fully embraced the natal chart, we will then move our focus to what is current and upcoming for you:

v  Initiation Cycles  ~ prominent planetary transits to your natal planets & angles

The initial reading will take at least two hours, so when we schedule it, please plan to be physically comfortable and to allow for uninterrupted time so that we may immerse ourselves in the energy and flow.  Plan to take a few notes at least (dates specifically!) and have your chart with you to refer to during the reading.  I would also ask that just before our appointment, you would take a couple of moments to clear yourself emotionally and mentally from your previous activities, to breathe deeply and connect in with the space that we will be holding for your reading.  This is an energetically collaborative process, and will be enhanced by our mutual calm and centeredness.
