As is the generally accepted thought with Mercury Retrograde in any sign, it would
be advisable to postpone signing off on any new agreements, legal or personal. All
forms of communication and exchange of information are generally challenged during these cycles, with Mercury being the planet
of communication – both expressed and perceived. It is also known to be
a challenging cycle for pushing forward on anything… especially things related to time and linear order. During Mercury Retrograde, things have a way of going inward instead of outward. I prefer this description
the most, as I believe we can also make the most of Mercury retrograde times. It is an opportunity to slow down and
catch your breath, and has a reflective, inward quality that supports internal work, transformation, deep healing, cleansing...
and just backing up to gain a greater perspective. Mercury is all about perspective anyway, and this particular retrograde
cycle is in Scorpio – the powerfully transformative sign, that investigates and reveals.
What a perfect time for assessment and planning – before striking out with action.
Currently, Mercury is in the sign of Scorpio with retrograde emphasis, enhancing the
Pluto dominant qualities of Scorpio that would be most at home in this realm, while the pushing Mars portion would be more
challenged. Just be aware of how power is working at this time, and be in the
flow, surrender obvious expectations, don't push too hard and understand that the communication part of relationship with
others is kind of under a microscope at the moment - - others may really be examining/reflecting on what you're trying to
communicate and if, at this time, they perceive things differently than your intention, it is likely the effects of Mercury
retrograde... so just hold your power and find another way to express yourself and effect the change you desire. This
is a time when a lot is happening in the spirit realm and non-ordinary reality is likely to be much more clear than ordinary
reality (which is actually always the case!) – but this is a time when even people that aren't comfortable or familiar
with non-ordinary reality are being challenged enough in their ordinary reality comfort zone, that they may be inclined to
take a deeper look. Also, timelines, deadlines, all those linear things are not well aspected at this time, so that
is another area of surrender... just don't be too attached to those kinds of details, but retain your wisdom around the greater
picture and purpose of what you are trying to achieve.
For those of you with prominently placed Scorpio in your natal chart, you can work
with this energy to maximize your experience. With Mercury retrograde in Scorpio,
related themes are focused around communication/perception, turning inward and be introspective, while dealing with issues
of power (use of and locating), healing, death/rebirth, feminine mysteries, transformation, underworld/lower world/middle
world landscapes, non-ordinary reality, renewal, spirit, life force, tantra, ceremony, desire/will, etc. Just look to where Scorpio falls in your chart to see what planets and houses may be energized by this
transit.
Regardless of your personal placements with this cycle, it’s best to be aware
that Mercury retrograde cycles have a historically powerful effect on many of us, as there are huge thoughtforms around
what it means... and most of those only encompass such a small portion of the purpose of this cycle. By expanding your perspective around retrograde cycles in general, I really feel that we all can engage
with this and receive the gifts, in spite of the "normal" Mercury retrograde judgments.
As Mercury goes Direct on November 18th (appearing to move forward rapidly),
things may be intense for a couple of days. Even if you are personally energized by this, bear in mind that many others
may be feeling a tad bit overwhelmed or just trying to keep up with everything - and they may have some newly gained insights
and healing that they are trying to integrate into their outward life – and everyone is gearing up for the Thanksgiving
holiday as well, and that often stirs up a lot of emotions around family and commitments.
It's a powerfully transformative time right now anyway - as Jupiter is also in Scorpio
until Thanksgiving Day, so this is a time of benefaction from the universe/creator with regard to revealing and healing. Of course, it can place tension in motion, due to the sheer nature of Scorpio, but
that is merely engagement of energy - - and that is when things get accomplished.
So, all in all, this is a great time in spite the misgivings of a Mercury retrograde
- - remember to be willing to adjust your perception, to be sensitive to others and to your own intuition, to dream &
vision BIG, intend & desire BIG, surrender & allow BIG as Jupiter liberates us while under the influence of Scorpio.
